SumiRiko Poland (SRKP) won the "Superior performance award" of Toyota Motor Europe (TME) for the year 2021 in the category of “Supply”, which was announced during the TME Purchasing Annual Business Meeting held on 1st June 2022 (meeting took place virtually).

TME evaluates suppliers performance in 6 categories (Safety, Quality, Supply, Project Management, VA, Cost Management) and the "Superior performance award" - a “Gold medal” is given to the best company of each of 6 categories. Our stable supply and logistics KPIs achieved by daily efforts of all employees were highly evaluated. SRKP received the TME Gold awards for the 3rd time (in 2008 Project management, in 2012 Supply). We will continue our utmost efforts to maintain the position of excellent supplier in Europe despite current difficult business circumstances.

SumiRiko Poland, for the first time, was awarded the CSR Silver Leaf for commitment to social responsibility and activities in the field of sustainable development and was included in the prestigious ranking of the weekly “Polityka”, prepared in cooperation with the consulting company Deloitte and the Responsible Business Forum. On 31 May 2022 the winners of the 11th edition of the awards were announced in Warsaw. 126 companies took part in this year's edition. The highest Gold CSR Leaf of Polityka went to 21 companies, Silver Leaf to 27, and White Leaf to 35.

SumiRiko Poland has been participating in the "Polityka" initiative since 2016, but so far our highest achievement was winning the CSR White Leaf, so we could achieve a higher level. The Silver Leaves have been awarded to companies that declare that in their daily activities they take into account most of the key solutions in the field of sustainable development, implement the highest quality solutions and disclose information related to their activities. The survey included questions about specific activities carried out in the company to implement the SDGs. In 2021, we intensified activities promoting SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), both among employees and in the local community, which may also contributed to the award of the Silver Leaf.

POLITYKA's CSR White Leaf for SumiRiko Poland

In this year's, tenth edition of the POLITYKA's CSR Leaves Awards, 124 companies took part while the awards went to 92 companies. We are very honoured to be included in the group of awarded companies with the White Leaf as a company that meets high criteria in the area of sustainable development and responsible business. Awards were given to companies that implement significant actions in the field of social involvement as well as local community development and companies that improve their actions to effectively manage their impact on the environment.

Since ten years, the standard among Polish companies participating in the list of POLITYKA CSR Leaves is the implementation of integrated management models, such as quality, employee safety and formalization of the approach to personnel management, as well as the approach to ethical issues in the company.

On 5 November 2021 in the headquarters of the Regional Labour Inspectorate in Rzeszów, a formal summary of the competition "Employer Organiser of Safe Work" took place. Minister Katarzyna Łażewska-Hrycko, the Chief Labour Inspector, and Barbara Kiełt, the District Labour Inspector in Rzeszów, participated in the event. Due to the outbreak of epidemics, the award ceremony was held under full sanitary regime. The purpose of the competition announced by the PIP is to promote best practices in the area of occupational safety and protection, as well as to inspire employers to create safe and ergonomic workplaces. All winners received awards in the form of statuettes and grograms, which were handed out on behalf of the Regional Labour Inspector in Rzeszów by Ms Aneta Gronowicz, Deputy Regional Labour Inspector.

Participated companies were evaluated in three categories: Category I - workplaces up to 50 employees, Category II - workplaces from 51 to 250 employees, and Category III - workplaces over 250 employees. Our branch in Zagórz took third place in the category of companies with more than 250 employees. Mr Hidehito Ikeda, President of SumiRiko Poland, Mr Grzegorz Kolanko-Kosowski, Production Manager of SRKP in Zagórz, and Mr Marek Maj, Health and Safety Inspector of the Wolbrom plant, received the award.

SumiRiko Poland received a special award in the competition "Employer - organizer of safe work" in the category of companies with more than 250 employees. The competition is organised every year by the National Labour Inspectorate. Its aim is to promote best practices in the area of safety and workplace safety, and to inspire employers to create safe and ergonomic workplaces. Its worth mentioning that our company took part in the competition for the fourth time and each time it has been awarded. As in previous years, the criteria for choosing the winners were, first of all, observance of the labour law regulations, occupational health and safety rules and regulations, as well as analysis of accidents at work for the last 3 years. Moreover, an additional advantage was the popularisation of knowledge on OSH issues, including the involvement of employees in creating safe workplace conditions.

 

DYPLOM2021

This year, the committee's special attention was drawn to improvements introduced by us in the Logistics Department, such as

  • Safe gate - eliminating fall hazards.
  • Safety lights - blue and red lights - information for bystanders
  • Safety lights - blue and red - information for bystanders about the oncoming trolley.
  • Safety net to prevent goods from falling from racking locations.
  • Monitor presenting statistical data and basic safety rules in the warehouse.

The committee was also very interested in the Safety Dojo training device, used to present hazards and safety elements of machines, as well as all production activities related to the improvement of ergonomics, such as: devices supporting the lifting of production components, or Karakuri - mechanisms reducing the load on the skeleton system through the use of counterweights or other solutions.

Taking into account that 2020 was an unusual year due to the coronavirus outbreak, the committee highlighted the very strong commitment of our plant in activities related to reducing the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, including the introduction by management of specific guidelines, instructions and information presented on monitors and information boards.

The competition was held on 16 and 18 December 2020, however, due to the situation related to the coronavirus pandemic, the presentation was organised in the form of individual meetings at the Regional Inspectorate in Krakow,

with compliance with the sanitary regime in force. On behalf of SumiRiko, the award was received by Mr Hidehito Ikeda, President of the Management Board of SumiRiko Poland, and Mr Marek Maj, Manager of the Health and Safety Department.

The award is also a recognition for the entire staff, who are committed to improving workplaces and eliminating potential hazards.
