SumiRiko Poland received a special award in the competition "Employer - organizer of safe work" in the category of companies with more than 250 employees. The competition is organised every year by the National Labour Inspectorate. Its aim is to promote best practices in the area of safety and workplace safety, and to inspire employers to create safe and ergonomic workplaces. Its worth mentioning that our company took part in the competition for the fourth time and each time it has been awarded. As in previous years, the criteria for choosing the winners were, first of all, observance of the labour law regulations, occupational health and safety rules and regulations, as well as analysis of accidents at work for the last 3 years. Moreover, an additional advantage was the popularisation of knowledge on OSH issues, including the involvement of employees in creating safe workplace conditions.
This year, the committee's special attention was drawn to improvements introduced by us in the Logistics Department, such as
- Safe gate - eliminating fall hazards.
- Safety lights - blue and red lights - information for bystanders
- Safety lights - blue and red - information for bystanders about the oncoming trolley.
- Safety net to prevent goods from falling from racking locations.
- Monitor presenting statistical data and basic safety rules in the warehouse.
The committee was also very interested in the Safety Dojo training device, used to present hazards and safety elements of machines, as well as all production activities related to the improvement of ergonomics, such as: devices supporting the lifting of production components, or Karakuri - mechanisms reducing the load on the skeleton system through the use of counterweights or other solutions.
Taking into account that 2020 was an unusual year due to the coronavirus outbreak, the committee highlighted the very strong commitment of our plant in activities related to reducing the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, including the introduction by management of specific guidelines, instructions and information presented on monitors and information boards.
The competition was held on 16 and 18 December 2020, however, due to the situation related to the coronavirus pandemic, the presentation was organised in the form of individual meetings at the Regional Inspectorate in Krakow,
with compliance with the sanitary regime in force. On behalf of SumiRiko, the award was received by Mr Hidehito Ikeda, President of the Management Board of SumiRiko Poland, and Mr Marek Maj, Manager of the Health and Safety Department.
The award is also a recognition for the entire staff, who are committed to improving workplaces and eliminating potential hazards.
